The SEIT Lab, of the University of Cyprus participates in the WINDEXT project (“Advanced maintenance, lifetime extension and repowering of wind farms supported by advanced digital tools”), an Erasmus+ Key Action 2 Cooperation and Innovation for Good Practices, Knowledge Alliances for higher education project.
The goal of the present project is to develop specialized training to allow reducing the energy costs by reducing the operating expenses, increase the quality of operation & maintenance services, and thus extending the lifetime of the wind turbine generators.
In this context, a consortium of European key players in the Wind Industry (entrepreneurial associations and maintenance companies), Universities and training centers propose the creation of the reference training course WINDEXT. This project will reinforce the creation of new companies in the maintenance activities and also in new areas such: life extension, integration of new digital tools, and advanced maintenance, recycling, and reuse of components.
Specifically, the organization ASOCIACION EMPRESARIAL EOLICA from Madrid in Spain coordinates the research project WINDEXT which is financed by the European Union, through the Erasmus+ program. The 36-month research project is implemented within a consortium of 11 internationally recognized organizations from 7 countries: ASOCIACION EMPRESARIAL EOLICA (Spain), 8.2 Consulting AG (Germany), BZEE Academy GmbH (Germany), DP2i SARL (France), INESC TEC – INSTITUTO DE ENGENHARIA DE SISTEMAS E COMPUTADORES (Portugal), TESICNOR S.L. The leader of the team of the University of Cyprus in the SEIT laboratory is Professor George A. Papadopoulos.
This important contribution of the SEIT Laboratory will help the University of Cyprus to enrich its knowledge and experience in this field of specialization and at the same time will open new perspectives for future collaborations.
