AIM
The aims of the ERUDiTE project are supported by literature in the field, highlighting a series of individual and community needs:
a) more theoretical knowledge of students / doctors / professions from allied health fields, about empathy and its favorable effect;
b) knowledge and use of self-assessment tools/capabilities (qualitative and quantitative) of empathy and interventions dedicated to its improvement
c) re-legitimization of empathy (communication skills) in the medical training curriculum, along with technical knowledge/competences;
d) The need for a set of recommendations/procedures, to be distributed to decision-makers in the academic environment,
for increasing knowledge about empathy and stimulating its implementation.
Equally, the project requires a transnational partnership supported by: a) lack of solid research and practice on this topic
across European universities; b) the usefulness of a database for future comparative data collection and analysis; c) the
high interest of the partner countries in developing an integrated set of tools and resources that could support the practice of
empathy in academic life.
