Recommender systems are software tools able to discover the necessary knowledge about users (customers) to offer them personalized recommendations. The UbiCARS MDD Framework (UbiCARS stands for Ubiquitous Context-Aware Recommender Systems) enables developers that are not experts in recommender systems to design and develop context-aware recommender systems for e-stores and physical retail stores.
Υou are invited to participate in the evaluation of the UbiCARS MDD Framework. If you are a Developer with any experience in building/managing e-stores, a Recommender Systems expert or a Model-Driven Development (MDD) expert, you are most welcome to participate!

The Software Engineering and Internet Technologies (SEIT) laboratory cordially invites you to an:
Information Day Event on Thursday 27 September 2018 (09:30 – 14:30) Room 010, Social Facilities Centre – Building 7 (SFC07), University of Cyprus
The scope of the event is to bring together various interested target groups to present and evaluate the overall results of the ERASMUS+ Key Action 2 Strategic Partnerships for adult education research project VeLoCiTy and the specific intellectual outputs that the SEIT laboratory contributed to the project. Hence, we are contacting you as we believe that the results of our VeLoCiTy research project will be of interest to you.
The key target of VeLoCiTy is “to produce a 3D virtual world learning tool to simulate real interviews, real-life scenarios, and interview processes in order to familiarise Europeans with the diversities in the theories and practices applied across Europe mainly due to different ethnic and cultural backgrounds among the European states”. Thus, to help those individuals who are seeking for a job abroad by showing them the different types and theories of interviews among the European countries.

The INFORM Days are aimed not only at the judiciary, the legal practitioners, and court staff, but also at the general public. The objective of these events is not only to communicate the project on a larger scale, but also to bring awareness to citizens about what their new rights introduced by the European reform in the field of personal data protection are.
The INFORM project concept is to reach the judiciary, legal practitioners and court staff utilising train-the-trainer approach. INFORM engage trainers, empowering them with tailor-made materials and customised training methodology. The project team is also developing an e-Learning programme to directly involve target groups. In addition, the partners are dedicating efforts to raise the overall awareness about the on-going data protection reform and strengthen data subjects’ rights. The project is implemented with the support of the Justice Programme of the European Commission under Grant Agreement № 763866.

Energy poverty, in general terms, represents the inability of a household to secure adequate amounts of energy in the home – allowing it to keep living spaces adequately warm (or cool during hot days) and well lit, to have access to a needed range of energy services, and to be able to afford a sufficient amount of energy for everyday requirements.
A major barrier preventing a change in the current energy consumption habits is the lack of education and knowledge.
Project Goals
- Raise awareness of European citizens on the rising issue of energy poverty
- To improve the quality of practices in the education of adults on the challenges and opportunities related to energy poverty eradication by identifying the existing practices and methods and build on them.
- To develop a high quality educational approach which will be able to address both technical and social sides of the problem and also highlight the entrepreneurship possibilities in the area of energy advising meaning help the unemployed to identify energy advising as an opportunity for them to find new job opportunities
- To establish a firm and competent international network of energy advisors active in energy poor households, where personal advising has proven to be the best way to disseminate information and increase knowledge level. Curriculum for training will be developed, enabling the trainees to act as energy advisors to the energy poor.
- Encourage the creation of a network of relevant stakeholders involved in educating citizens on energy poverty and energy advising
- Reinforce skills of CSOs and other stakeholders involved or interested in the adult education on energy poverty
- To develop 15 innovative ICT tools to be used in education on energy poverty.
IDEA’s Kick-Off Meeting was held in Nicosia, Cyprus on 30th of November, 2017. Software Engineering and Internet Technologies Laboratory from the University of Cyprus was the host of this first meeting.
