The University of Cyprus in Nicosia hosted the third international meeting of the ‘The Learning Age’ project team 🇨🇾. The meeting was organised by SEIT Lab👍.
During the meeting we had the opportunity to exchange experiences from the implementation of workshops and intergenerational meetings, promotion of the project activities and results.
The main objectives of the meeting were to summarise the tasks carried out so far ✅ and to plan the next 🗓.

On 20th and 21th of June the partners of Brights met in Cyprus, in the Stelios Ioannou Resource Center of the University of Cyprus.

The discussion of the TPM was on the next steps of the project. 

Much has been and will be done to produce results for #HEIs to play an important part in the reaching of the objective for the GreenDeal and the SDGs at all levels.

The project Brights is implemented by: University of Pavia, University of Cologne, University of Cyprus, garagErasmus Foundation, Reiss Romoli.

From our Lab Dr. Christos Mettouris, Mr. Marios Kyprianou and Mr. Constantinos Xenofontos participated.

On the 16th Of June 2023 the University of Cyprus hosted their Multiplier Event for the Erasmus+ Project DIPHE at the social activities building of the new UCY campus in Nicosia.

The Multiplier Event was led by Mr. Raymond Sweeney, CEO of IKKAIDO UK who is the coordinator of this project and has great expertise in the fields of Martial Arts and inclusive teaching practices.

The event was attended by 27 attendees from the field of Martial Arts, including many coaches, trainers, teachers and owners of Martial Art schools in Cyprus.

The event was split into a morning session and an afternoon session.

The morning session focused on introducing the project, its outcomes and its success. Then the attendees were given examples and demonstrations of inclusive teaching practices and they engaged in group activities. One such activity stood out, in which participants were asked to take a conventional sport, game or activity and adapt it to be more inclusive for specific groups. In contrast with popular inclusivity approaches, in our event the participants did not take an activity and alter it to cater only to a specific group of people (like the Paralympic games do). Instead, they were asked to tweak it and make it properly inclusive in such a way that both disabled and non-disabled can engage simultaneously alike without losing the character of the game. This is what we call inclusive inclusion.

The afternoon session took place at a judo class in the athletic facilities of the University Of Cyprus. An introduction of the project was given at the start, and afterwards the participants of the judo class joined a number of inclusive games similar to the morning sessions and were taught about the importance of inclusivity in martial arts in a physically engaging way.

On the 15th of June 2023, the consortium of our Erasmus+ project DIPHE (Digital Inclusive Physical & Health Education) met with physical presence at the premises of UCY in Nicosia for the third and final transnational project meeting.

During the meeting the partners were given a tour of our library and campus here in Nicosia.

As the project is now nearing it conclusion, the best part of the meeting was spent reflecting upon the progress and quality of the deliverables, including valuable feedback gathered about the e-Learning platform which will be used to make some improvements on it.

The progress of the IO6 (Pilot Testing) was also discussed.

In the evening the partners were invited to a social dinner in the old city of Nicosia.

The second result of our project RuralPlus is nearing completion. This project result concerns the development of a training program for trainers and mentors who offer advice to citizens, mainly in rural areas.

The program will have a hybrid nature and be delivered both in face-to-face and online fashion.

It aims to enable participants to acquire key competencies for work and daily life, but most importantly to teach them skills and abilities to increase their employability opportunities in rural economic activities other than traditional agriculture.

Our training program focuses on 16 key skills, including but not limited to Risk Management, Self-Control, Proactivity, Coordination Capacity, Adaptability and Innovation.

On the 31st of May 2023, the consortium of our project RuralPlus attended with physical presence the project’s third Transnational Project Meeting which took place at the offices of HIESE, in the rural community of Penela in central Portugal.

The meeting was attended by two participants form the University of Cyprus with physical presence and two online participants.

During the TPM the partners reflected upon the completion of Project Result 1, which related to the informational infographics and videos of 5 EU-funded programs.

The team also discussed the progress of the ongoing Result 2, which is the training material for mentors, and also introduced the third and final Result: The creation of a MOOC -Massive Open Online Course- for trainers and adults as well as the creation of an app for our project.

In the rural community of Penela, viticulture is a popular occupation for many residents. Winemaking is a strong economic activity in the local area as well as the rest of Portugal. Multiple Portuguese wineries and vineyards are hundreds of years old, and the wine culture is a source of tourism.

During the meeting, partners were given a tour of a local winery, where the owners explained the significance of winemaking for this area and the importance of its promotion through our project, and offered local wines for tasting to the RuralPlus consortium.

Final Conference of the project Digi-Ageing in Vilnius

The final conference of the project Digi-Ageing took place on the 25th of May in Vilnius.

The international scientific conference titled “Reducing loneliness of older people through digital health interventions” was organised by the Faculty of Human and Social Studies of MRU.

The research on overcoming loneliness and working with older people was discussed and the results of the Digi-Ageing project were presented.

At the end of the conference, a workshop was held to present the tool developed by the consortium. Participants and presenters were from Austria, Cyprus, Spain, Italy, Israel, Poland, Lithuania and Spain.

On the 3 and 4 of May, the partners of our Erasmus+ project #MyCred4Home met in Nicosia, Cyprus for the third transnational project meeting, hosted by University of Cyprus.

During the meeting, the partners talked about the intellectual results, advancement, and forthcoming actions.

A national multiplier event will be organized in Nicosia, Cyprus, 27 April 2023 to highlight progress made so far, and further increase school community involvement, while heading to the final phase of CONNECT project.

The University of Cyprus organized a prestigious national multiplier event to showcase and celebrate the significant progress achieved thus far in the CONNECT project. The aim was to foster the involvement from the different communities (schools, universities, educational organizations) as the project approaches its final phase. The event focused on highlighting the intellectual outputs developed as part of the project, namely the Pedagogical Framework, Educational Scenarios, Online courses (MOOC), and Teachers Guide.
