Brights project were our lab participates is hiring!!

BRIGHTS is hiring: the project is looking for an External Evaluator!

The external evaluator will be in charge of the quality review of the project’s outcomes, in terms of: achievement of objectives and results, impact, coherence, involvement of external stakeholders. S/he will analyse data about the project in order to identify strengths and weaknesses especially in relation to the quantifiable impact of the project activities in the involved universities. Periodical reports will be released to check project progress and make recommendations.

The External Quality Expert will be responsible for:

a) the finalisation and official definition of quality indicators and of monitoring procedures;

b) the elaboration of evaluation reports.

The aim of the external evaluation is to ensure that monitoring of the project is performed adequately and accurately. It identifies procedures, criteria and resources for monitoring the project. It also deals with the evaluation of the progress of the project, risk and issue management and with the evaluation of the results in comparison with the needs of the target group(s) and sector(s).

The external evaluator will receive a 5.000,00 euros reward for the entire activity.

On 27th and 28th of March Seit Lab had the pleasure of hosting the second TPM for the project Bee-In.

Partners had very productive conversations and made sure that everything is moving in the right direction for the development of the project.

First Draft for the Interactive Games of Re/Think-Re/Act is ready.

These games are meant to help the users use their soft skills in order to play them.

Seit Lab had a very succesful meeting on 24th of March 2023 in Coimbra Portugal.

All the partners discussed the development of the project having very successful and productive conversations. All the partners discussed their the tasks and made sure all the partners move in the same direction for this project.

This project looks very promising. Keep an eye out for any updates.

SEIT lab members will participate in the Fourth transnational meeting of the PIECIT project in Lisbon (Portugal) on March 30 and 31.

This is the final meeting for the successful project PIECIT.

As the camp wrapped up, we enjoyed a Bosphorus Tour with stunning views of Istanbul’s coastline. Students presented their ideas to an international jury. A team from Norway and Germany secured the top spot. Well done to all students for their hard work! With feedback from the jury, students will refine their ideas and create prototypes in the coming months. Finally, they’ll showcase these prototypes in real-world settings.

On the second day, there were four quick talks about using technology in the water industry. Dr. Abhilash Nair talked about digital tools, while Emel Tüfekçi focused on their use in Turkey. There was also a talk about a case study from the SMART4ENV project, and another about a creative method for solving water management issues using Lego. After that, a group photo and video with a drone was taken and they visited the ISKI Agva Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant. Later, students brainstormed solutions to cybersecurity problems and developed their ideas further.

The camp started with opening remarks from Assist. Prof. Mehmet Emin Paşaoğlu (ITU-MEMTEK) and Assist. Prof. Selda Murat Hocaoglu (TÜBİTAK MAM) led the brainstorming session. Several experts gave lectures on various topics. Dr. Vincent Wolfs (SumAqua) showcased five prototypes developed during the camp. The brainstorming session utilized GroupMap. Prof. Pierre Berube (UBC-CA) observed and chaired the “Identification/early warning system” table. The “cyber-attacks” table was led by Dr. Vincent Wolfs, with co-chairs Jascanu Veronica (SmarTech Automation) and Assoc. Prof. Kubra Ulucan-Altuntas (ITU). Dr. Selda Murat Hocaoglu chaired the “response options” table, with co-chairs Katharina Pilar Von Pilchau (Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe) and Dr. Abhilash Nair (DOSCON AS). Students generated ideas during brainstorming sessions and further developed them using the Business Model Canvas. The day concluded with a joint dinner.

Three day innovation camp was held in Istanbul for the project DigiWater on 15-17 March 2023. It was organized by ITU – MEMTEK Research Center and MEMSIS, aimed to address the handling of both natural and human-caused disasters in the water industry using digital ideas. This is especially important considering the recent earthquakes in Turkey and the rising number of cybersecurity threats worldwide.

On the final day, students presented their innovative ideas, judged by professionals from our project and KU Leuven. Two teams with the best presentations were awarded. Daan Buekenhout and Kato Schoeters congratulated the winning teams with small gifts. We applaud all students for their hard work. Special thanks to Daan Buekenhout, Prof. Patrick Willems from KU Leuven, Dr. Ir. Vincent Wolfs, and Kato Schoeters from SumAqua for organizing this successful camp.

On the third day of the camp, Prof. Barbu Marian from Universitatea „Dunărea de Jos” din Galați, gave a course on “Test Platform WWTP”. Students then continued their group work. After lunch, we had a consultation where students received feedback on their presentations. We also had a staff meeting to review all work packages and confirmed the date for the second innovation camp in Istanbul, Turkey. The day ended with a pleasant dinner sponsored by SumAqua, enjoyed by both staff and students.
