The Laboratory for Internet Computing (LINC) at University of Cyprus received Best Paper Awards at two prestigious conferences on December 2023: the 14th IEEE International Conference on Cloud Computing Technology and Science (CLOUDCOM 2023) and the 16th IEEE/ACM International Conference on Utility and Cloud Computing (UCC 2023).

IEEE CLOUDCOM 2023 Best Paper Award

The paper titled "Energy-Aware Streaming Analytics Job Scheduling for Edge Computing", authored by Demetris Trihinas, Moysis Symeonides, Joanna Georgiou, George Pallis, and Marios D. Dikaiakos, has received the Best Paper Award at IEEE CLOUDCOM 2023 conference. Dr. Demetris Trihinas presented the paper in IEEE CLOUDCOM conference that took place in Napoli, Italy, December 4-6, 2023. The paper introduces a novel system, called PowerStorm, which is designed to explore trade-offs between performance and energy consumption in geo-distributed edge computing settings.

IEEE/ACM UCC 2023 Best Paper Award - 2nd Place

The paper titled "FedBed: Benchmarking Federated Learning over Virtualized Edge Testbeds", authored by Moysis Symeonides, Fotis Nikolaidis, Demetris Trihinas, George Pallis, Marios D. Dikaiakos, and Angelos Bilas, has been awarded the 2nd Place Best Paper Award at IEEE/ACM UCC 2023. Dr. Moysis Symeonides presented the paper in  IEEE/ACM UCC 2023 conference that took place in Taormina (Messina), Italy, December 4-7, 2023. The paper introduces a novel framework that facilitates rapid and reproducible benchmarking of Federated Learning deployments on virtualized edge testbeds.
